Palm Beach Dressage

After a long winter’s hiatus from show shooting, it’s good to be “back in the saddle” so to speak. I left Kentucky with more snow on the way and 20 degree temps to arrive in Palm Beach with 74 degrees, a nice breeze and sunshine. That alone could be the reason for my good humor. However I also arrived just in time to cover the Exquis World Dressage Masters competition at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Yesterday’s event was the Grand Prix with 16 riders competing. Steffen Peters won the class on Ravel, his World Cup partner, with a score of 76.851. It was a beautiful ride to photograph. Ravel was strong and relaxed throughout the test. Anky van Grunsven of The Netherlands was in second place with her horse Salinero, followed by Germany’s Isabell Werth on Satchmo.

I’m looking forward to more beautiful horses, sunshine and the company of fellow equestrian photographers.
